Kontempo.

How many years have you been in the industry?

I have been in the industry for a little over a year now. I started doing freelance hair and makeup since 2013, but I was never able to attend an institution to become a cosmetologist until recently. I expanded my knowledge with researching, experimenting, and social media through my years of freelancing.

What inspires you or feeds your creativity?

The clients’ confidence within themselves once I am done styling their hair and doing their make-up, is my biggest inspiration. The reason I was inspired to become a cosmetologist is to help people find happiness and confidence within themselves. Everyone needs a confident booster! Also, the variety of things you can do with makeup and hair! All the hair coloring, fun up-dos, various eyeshadows, and different abstract haircuts, etc.! It is a beautiful art and it is unstoppable! There are a million different colors for hair, I love experimenting with different formulas and seeing various outcomes. There are many faces I want to change their looks to perfect their best feature as well. Also, when I see barbers do portraits on another guy’s head is so fascinating, I hope to reach that level someday! I see so many makeup artists that just do the most flawless looks on Instagram I want to become viral just like them! All the Avant-gard looks for shows excites me! Especially, the European hairdressers I follow, they inspire me to do better every day.

If you could be any animal, what would you be and why?

A cheetah. I have always loved cheetahs, ever since the second grade they have always been my favorite. I love lemurs as well, but I wouldn’t like to live as one, they don’t seem to match up with my ambition. Another animal I would consider are penguins, because they are known to be loving and faithful to their mate. Out of all the animals in the world though I would much rather be a cheetah. They are fast and efficient which is what I want to be in my career. They plan and calculate their movements and actions and execute them flawlessly with speed and precision. That defines me. They take time to perfect their actions and perfect their qualities to be better and faster for the next hunt, and that is why I would be a cheetah.

Why Kontempo. ?

My goal is to provide the best customer service to my clients. I enjoy working with great products for my clients that improve their everyday lifestyle. Kontempo. also is big on education. We work in an everchanging industry and at Kontempo. one of the biggest draws was the fact that they focus on education. Most importantly the team work and work ethics in the salon. I coached and played sports for a big part of my life and always loved the teamwork aspect behind it. I needed a salon with a great family bond. I saw those great qualities in Kontempo., I knew that this salon would help me succeed and further my knowledge. The atmosphere in the salon was great and everyone seemed like a big family. This salon is high class, driven, and passionate. That is is the type of environment that I wanted to be apart of while I do what I love.

What is your absolute favorite place or space?

My favorite place could be anywhere. As cheesy as it may sound, but my favorite place is where ever my husband is at. I do enjoy the beach, but the sand can get annoying for me occasionally. I get bored easily, but my ideal place for excitement and relaxation is anywhere my husband is. No matter where the place is, with him, it always ends up being a fun and memorable experience.

What is ONE industry product you can’t live without?

The most difficult question ever! I have too many products I love and use on the daily. It is very difficult to just choose one! For starters, my hair is curly, if I let it air dry correctly, it will look decent. I do love my bangs but I would need my straighter, thermal protectant, and sheers to keep them trimmed, so I can’t narrow it down to one. Second, my makeup, I must have foundation, eyebrow pomade, mascara, a little bit of eyeshadow for contrast, and maybe eyeliner. I cannot even go to Walmart without having a full face of makeup, hair done, and a cute outfit, just ask my husband! If I had to narrow it down to one main product I cannot live without, it would have to be mascara. I can use it for my eyebrows for a nice little tint! On second thought, a BB cream! I do not want to age fast so I would want to prevent it. BB cream contains SPF and a small amount of coverage, just enough for my dark circles around my eyes! I have naturally long, full lashes and my eyebrows have a great shape, so I don’t really have to worry about that. So, BB cream is my final answer!
